Daniel, the servant of Jehovah, has taught us a valuable lesson of what it means to be the difference in the culture that surrounds us and eventually to be the difference in our generation. From his life, we learn that Daniel was a faithful steward in the house of God. Daniel was uncompromising in his faith in Jehovah, his God. He decided in his heart that he was not going to allow himself to be defiled by the pagan culture and by eating the pagan food that the king ordered for them to be fed with (Daniel 1:8).
What should our response be?
My response and your response is to dare to be different from this culture and show them the reason to believe in Jesus, just as Daniel and his three Hebrew friends, companions and brothers did.
Listen, these four guys were taken to pagan schools for their mindsets to be changed, corrupted and confused. They were taught evolution, paganism, pluralism, worldly philosophy and magic, sorcery, and all those stuff that the Babylonians prided in. Sorcerers and magicians were their classmates. And there was nothing taught about Jehovah in those Babylonian schools. But guess what? You can take me out of Jerusalem and burn my house down and carry me to your land, but you surely can't take Jerusalem out of my mind. You may take me out of the Church but you won't take the Church out of me. What is wrong with you, Church? Why do you let the world take Jerusalem and the Holy teachings of Jehovah out of your mind? Why do you let evolution replace Jesus? Why? Why do you let the fantasies and the stupid ideologies of this world mesmerize you and hypnotize you? Have you let your guards down? Are you sleeping, Church? God forbid that His Church be sleeping at this most important time in the history of time and of the earth! God forbid that His holy Church be sleeping at this hour.
Be the difference. To change this world and point it to Christ Jesus alone, you got to be the difference yourself. A difference that begins in your heart - a heart that is positioned rightly, and a mind set on Christ alone. Stop waiting for someone else to do something. You be something. Be the difference in your family. Be the difference in your school, in your university, at your work place, sphere of influence, community, local Church, neighbourhood. Be the difference in all manner of conduct.
To make a change in your world, Church, be the difference, be the change, and the world will follow suit.
