Entertainment for Christians: The Philippians Filter

Mark Hall of Casting Crowns by Mark Hall The journey from your mind to your hands Is shorter than you're thinking Be careful if you think you stand You just might be sinking What Kind of Counsel Does Our Entertainment Give Us? Philippians 4:8 says we’re supposed to focus on things that are pure, lovely, true, noble, and just. Things that are praiseworthy and virtuous. We need to apply the Philippians filter to our lives and ask some serious questions. Don’t ask, “Is this wrong? Is this good? Is this bad?” These are questions of immaturity. It’s as if we want to ask God these questions so he can show us where the line is. By doing so, we can set up our tents right there on the side of the cliff. How close to sin can I get and still not sin? We’d never voice that, but it’s usually in our hearts. We need to graduate from that kind of thinking. Instead, our hearts should say, “OK, if I want to honor God with my life and be an example for other people, then what’s th

THE FEARFUL WRATH OF GOD COMING TO DESTROY FALSE PROPHETS GLOBALLY

Prophet Dr. David Owuor preaching in a busy street of Nairobi, Kenya by Prophet Dr. Owuor (30 October 2014) The LORD has spoken with me this night. The LORD JEHOVAH, HE has spoken with me this night and I would like your listeners world-over, your global listener-ship to get to know that the LORD HE has spoken again. He has spoken with the nations of the earth. The LORD JEHOVAH has spoken to the four ends of the earth this night - this past night. The night that is ending the East African time on this side (Kenya) and ah, in that conversation; THE EVERLASTING GOD; JEHOVAH EL-OLAHM. HE WHO IS THE LORD OF HOSTS, JEHOVAH TSABAOTH. JEHOVAH ELOHEKAH, THE LORD THY GOD. JEHOVAH MEKADISHKEN, THE LORD OUR SANCTIFIER, HE spoke with me this night. THE MIGHTY GOD OF ISRAEL, THE CREATOR OF JERUSALEM, THE LORD HE THAT HAS CHOSEN JERUSALEM, HE has spoken with me about events that are about to befall the earth. And in this Mighty conversation, THE LORD took me across the earth to differ

Understanding Relationships

by Dr. R.C. Sproul In the Bible, the supreme feminine image is ascribed to the church. Before the church is ever seen as mother, though, she is first revealed as a bride. In the Old Testament, the commonwealth of Israel is the bride of Yahweh. In the New Testament, the church is the bride of Christ. The resulting familial imagery is somewhat strange. God is the Father; Christ is the Son. As the Son of God, Christ is then referred to as our Elder Brother. The church is His bride. In the language of family, this would then mean that the church is our sister-in-law. But no one speaks of holy sister-in-law church. We, both men and women, are given the title "bride of Christ." I am male, yet I am part of a body that is described in feminine terms. What is stranger is that the same entity that is called bride, of which I am a part, is regarded as my mother. I cannot be my own mother. These images are not the result of a jumbled mass of nonsense or  confusion. It

Divine (Dis)Appointments

by Christine Caine So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt."  - Genesis 41:41 Isn’t it interesting that the word appointment comes from within the word disappointment? I’ve often marveled at that because I’ve seen again and again how disappointments take something from us: a dream, a piece of our hearts — maybe whole chunks of it. But disappointment leaves something too: a gift, an opportunity, the possibility of creating change. This means we can move from the valley of the shadow of death to new horizons and bring others with us on that road. The enemy would like us to feel such a depth of disappointment that we never find our way back to the plan God has for us. If he can convince us to stay stuck in our disappointment, we’ll miss many of our future God appointments. I realize that some disappointments seem so big that we can’t imagine ever being able to move beyond them. We ask deep questions and they go unanswered.

The Ministry Of The Holy Spirit

GraceWords by King Julius Kwedhi 5  “But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, ‘Where are You going?’   6  But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away;   for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you;   but if I depart,   I will send Him to you.   8  And when   He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:   9  of sin, because they do not believe in Me;   10  of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;   11  of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. (John 16:5-11 NKJV) The Ministry of the Holy Spirit is so holy and so grandeur that it also comes with an emergency. He has come, not to play with the hearts of man, but to point all to Christ Jesus and to the Father. Jesus hereby tells us, in detail, what the Ministry of the Holy Spirit entails as He was sent fo

PROPHECY of 20th OCTOBER 2014 (excerpt)

Servant of the LORD, Prophet Dr. David Owuor The Lord has spoken with me About The Coming of The Messiah.  And in this continuous conversation regarding the Coming of The Messiah: The Lord has spoken about 2 Major events: He has spoken not in veiled form, but openly: 1. The Lord Jehovah, He came to speak with me about disease, there is another disease coming to the earth. And I see a  lot of people vomiting, vomiting a lot of content of their stomach out!...I have lived that future day, and I also coughed and vomited like everyone else. There is a severe disease that is coming to the earth, and the manifestation of that disease will be the vomiting, coughing across the earth. There is a very very severe disease, infectious disease that is coming to the earth. I see distress, I see humanity in panic, people running all over in search of cure. And I see a lot of orphaned children (black children I see),  I am now standing here speaking to the four winds of the ear

I Am a Christian

GraceWords by King Julius Kwedhi I am a Christian! I'm a Christian first before I am a student. I'm a Christian first before I am an author. I'm a Christian first before I am a football player. I'm a Christian first before I am a doctor. I'm a Christian first before I'm a professor. I'm a Christian first before I am a rich business man. I'm a Christian first before I'm a poor person who has no food at home, or who has no home of my own. I'm a Christian first before I am a taxi driver. I'm a Christian first before I am anything else. Thats why I'm a Christian driver. Call me a Christian poet. A Christian artist. A Christian author. A Christian musician. Don't forget that I'm also a Christian carpenter. A Christian professor. A Christian doctor. I'm not just a footballer, I am a Christian soccer player. Christianity commands what I do. That's why whatever I do I do it with a difference from the common folks. Mi

Christ the Center

GraceWords by King Julius Kwedhi Some Christians don't know whom they are serving. They want to be like unbelievers they live among. They think they're in a circus: one moment they have a costume for Church. At another a costume for the world. There is no reverence and no respect for Jesus. They are not heeding God's Word to sanctify, to set Christ apart as Holy and acknowledge Him as Lord God in our hearts. They are afraid of talking about Jesus more often. They don't want to be asked too many questions about their Christian faith. They don't want to be exclusively numbered among the Christians and be treated primarily as such. They don't. In fact they just want to be known as spiritual people and that's it. Yet, in the final analysis, being a Christian and a heaven-bound child of God, is all that will matter. But how did we come to this, fighting for worldly recognition instead of lifting up the name of Jesus HIGHER, HIGHER AND HIGHER? I thought

Looking through the Mirror

Dr. R.C. Sproul When Paul declared the mysterious and breathtaking promise that "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" (Rom. 8: 28), he was musing in teleology. He was dealing with the realm of the remote rather than the proximate. This suggests that the proximate must be judged in light of the remote. Our problem is this: We do not yet possess the full light of the remote. We are still looking in a dark mirror. We are not utterly devoid of light, though. We have enough light to know that God has a good purpose even when we are ignorant of that good purpose. It is the good purpose of God that gives the final answer to the appearance of vanity and futility in this world. To trust in the good purpose of God is the very essence of godly  faith . This is why no Christian can be an ultimate pessimist. The world in which we live is not a world of chance. Its beginning was not an accident, its operati

Obedience and the Lordship of Jesus

http://mthopestjohns.com/podcasts/the-lordship-of-christ-jesus Obedience and the Lordship of Jesus But why do you call Me "Lord, Lord," and do not do the things which I say? . . . Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them . . . [and] teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Luk_6:46 and Mat_28:19-20) As servants of the new covenant of grace, the Lordship of Jesus is part of our message. "For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord" (2Co_4:5). The early church proclaimed Jesus as Lord. "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ . . . The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ — He is Lord of all . . . believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved . . . Then Paul dwelt two whole years . . . teachi

Johnathan Macris - Missionary To The Greeks

Alky Macris still calls her 6 children the ‘kids of the jungle’. She smiles making this comment, saying that, by God’s grace, one child is a church planter, another the captain of a ministry sailing vessel, one a missionary doctor, the other married to a professor of Theology, another  married to an ER paramedic, and the other (Johnathan) a director of a mission. A wild start At six months of age, Johnathan, the first child of Greek missionaries Costas and Alky Macris, landed in the tropical jungles of the former Dutch New Guinea. It was there in the jungle amongst the most primitive headhunting cannibal tribes that Johnathan grew up. “It all seemed so totally natural”, as he recounts spending hours playing with the naked children of headhunters with toys made out of the bark of trees and mud squelching between his toes. They bathed in the river, hoping that no crocs would be bothered, drank the milk of coconuts, and ate the meat of wild boar, snake and crocodile. “Eating
