'Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."'
(Hebrews 13:5 ESV)
(Hebrews 13:5 ESV)
Our first step to fighting the right battle, perhaps, is this; be content with what God has given you. Recognize that God has given you enough to achieve what He has planned for you to achieve. And stop trying to live other people's dreams. Stop cursing other people's achievements. Stop wishing you were living the successes of others, that is if you have been engaged in such activity. Recognize that your God-given purpose is to achieve and get hold of that for which He has saved you. And that for which He has saved you is attained not by comparing yourself and your success against that of others but by looking at Christ and looking at His set standard as the model for measuring what you have achieved so far.
Live to be the man and woman God has created you to be, and not to live to be what others have become.
Contentment.
That is the word. "Be content with what you have."
Number two. Appreciate the success of others. Learn to celebrate others. I mean really. Not with a mask on. Not with a fake smile on. Not with a smirk but with love. Appreciate your friends and neighbours truly and genuinely. Learn to celebrate others. And as you do so, truly thanking God for them and praying for them, praying for continued success, God will bless you as well. Pray for their protection. As you do that God will open up the windows of heaven for you. Be wise. Do to others what you want them to do unto you. This is true also, do to others what you want God to do to you.
So much can be said about this. But let me end with this thought and scripture; Don't be a man of envy. Don't be a woman of jealousy. Don't be a fool to think that by hating on someone else then you can achieve more than they have. Be a man and woman of love.
"Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart." (1 Peter 1:22 ESV)
Further Scripture Reading:
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."(Matthew 5:8 ESV)
"The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith." (1 Timothy 1:5 ESV)
"So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." (2 Timothy 2:22 ESV)
10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].
12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.
