Justice, Truth And Mercy

Julius King Kwedhi

"Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and loving-kindness and truth go before Your face."
Psalm 89:14 AMP
I read this passage of scripture so many times. As I read it again this time, a question came to mind, "Why does mercy and truth go before God?"

Here is my shot at it. The reasons why Mercy and Truth go before God is this; Truth goes before Him in order to set things right and uphold justice. Mercy, on the other hand, goes before Him in order to appease justice. That is because the angry hand of the just judge, God Almighty, is coming. It is coming because of the sins of man. The hand of God is coming hard at sinners like a train ready to crush the sinner into small pieces of meat. And when God is done dealing with the sinner He thoroughly deals with them. No jokes.

“The judgement of God is according to truth” (Romans 2:2).

The “Truth” and nothing but the “Truth” is the strong pillar of justice. Without truth, justice will be done away with and injustice will prevail. This will bear the inevitable fruit of corruption. For the Christian, corruption was our former state. But now we are redeemed and concerning us the Scripture says, “That He may be the Just and the Justifier of those sanctified by faith.” By His Mercy He justified us. He took us from corruption, transformed us and made us His just ones. He made us His saints. And He did this by His own merit.

What about the rest of the world? The rest of the world still lies in corruption. It lies in corruption because the justice of God is not reigning in their hearts: as in to say that they have no regard to the justice of God. The world cheats, kills, bears false witness, indeed there is no truth in them. And that is where the problem lies; the world is soaked in falsehood.

The Christian poet wrote, “Stirred lies of wicked man’s tongue started deceiving you, and automatically planted the seed of deceit in you. And when you became pregnant with falsehood it became impossible for you to conceive the truth” (P4CM Poet).

In His High Priestly prayer, Jesus asked the Father to“Sanctify them by Your Truth. Your Word is Truth”(John 17:17). It is the “Truth” that sets free. Without truth we would continue in blindness and slavery to wickedness, and forever be victims of injustice. Truth, therefore, establishes justice.

How about mercy? Mercy goes before Him in order to appease justice. Without God's mercy going before Him, there is no sinner that shall be saved. That is why throughout the Scriptures you find such astounding words of God saying, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice." In fact, you will even find Jesus saying this to the Pharisees,

"And if you had only known what this saying means, I desire mercy [readiness to help, to spare, to forgive] rather than sacrifice and sacrificial victims, you would not have condemned the guiltless." (Matthew 12:7 AMP)

Truth sets the records straight and prepares the heart for the execution of justice, so that all shall know that in dealing with them God shall be justified in all He does, for He shall deal with every one according to what they have done. He shall give to each what they deserved. Yet because God is loving and kind, out of His own will, He gives man a second chance. He lavishes man with His mercy so that they may turn from their sins. Mercy then gives them hope of salvation and redemption from God's punishment for their sins. Mercy withholds from us what we deserve, and gives us the opportunity to receive what we do not deserve (grace). As such, God pours out His fresh mercy on us each morning. His kindness altogether is to lead us to repentance.

Take some time today to ponder on Gods truth, mercy and justice. And then go on your knees and thank Him for His kindness that leads us to repentance.

Further Scripture Reading:

"Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?"(Romans 2:4 NIV)

“The reason I can still find hope is that I keep this one thing in mind: the Lord’s mercy. We were not completely wiped out. His compassion is never limited. It is new every morning. His faithfulness is great." (Lamentations 3:21-23 GW)

Atheists, agnostics, homosexuals, luciferians, etc. all can have money without being blessed of God, so get that out of your head. Today I Will Make a Difference

Week of June 29 Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference. I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference. I will not let past failures haun...
