"I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son." - 1 John 2:21-22
All lies have their genesis in this, the rejection of Christ Jesus. "For no lie is of the truth." You can easily dismiss this statement until you understand that Jesus is Truth. And I learned the former statement after closely examining 1 John 2:21-23 and John 14:6. Jesus emphatically declared that He is, consistently, unchanging, and uncompromisingly the Truth. Always was. Always is. Always will be Truth. And the apostle John added "no lie is of the truth." There is no trace of falsehood in Him. Him who is the the embodiment of falsehood we know, Satan. He has always lied from the beginning. When pride overwhelmed and ruled over Lucifer's heart, he rebelled against God Almighty and was cast out of God’s dwelling, Heaven. Satan became an outcast and darkness became his dwelling. He left the light and abode in the dark. Whenever the light appears, the darkness hides for it cannot overcome the light. Light reveals and guides and sets free.
Light exposes darkness by stripping it naked and revealing it for what it is that the slaves of darkness be set free. But those enslaved by darkness love the deeds of darkness and as light appears they seek for the grossest of darkness that their shameful deeds (known fully well to themselves to be shameful) be hid and not exposed. But the darkness cannot overcome the light. So as the light exposes the darkness those of the dark get offended and anger boils in their hearts. James told us that the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. And again he said being angry against a brother without cause is equated to murder. That is why Jesus calls Satan a murderer from the beginning because Satan got angry at God without a cause. By the way can anyone get angry at God and successfully prove God to be unrighteous and unjust in all or some of His acts? God is just and righteous in all He does (Psalm 145:17).
Henceforth, as light shines, the darkness is exposed and inevitably the darkness, being weak against light, it gets offended and deeply hurt that their shameful secrets of darkness are exposed to the sight of others. Paul therefore urged us to have no fellowship with the deeds of darkness.
I have often heard it said that "The truth hurts." This statement is not quite correct. What hurts is not the truth. What hurts is entertaining and living a lie. And what happens when falsehood meets truth? Truth reveals the true face of lies and out of rage and shame falsehood fights and tries to stop the truth from revealing any further of the hypocrisy of falsehoodness and lies. Listen, when the child of truth hears the truth he rejoices. That is why Proverbs says to teach correct the wise and he will receive knowledge. But if you do that to a fool he will hate you. A fool hates correction because it exposes his foolishness and pride keeps him from learning and amending his ways to walk in truth. A wise man rejoices at correction because that is his delight. When he is corrected he does not hide but rather comes forth in humility and keeps on following the way of wisdom and truth.
Do not be deceived, it is not the truth that hurts, it is entertaining and living a lie that hurts, for when falsehood meets truth falsehood is left exposed barely able to hide.

John 8:45-47 (ERV)
“I am telling you the truth, and that’s why you don’t believe me. Can any of you prove that I am guilty of sin? If I tell the truth, why don’t you believe me? Whoever belongs to God accepts what he says. But you don’t accept what God says, because you don’t belong to God.”
